Committee Of Management
In November each year, our Annual General Meeting is held at the kindergarten where a parent Committee is nominated/elected to manage the kindergarten for the following year. The Committee consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer (the Executive) and at least six general members.
What does the Committee do?
The Committee is solely responsible for the management and maintenance of the kindergarten. It is also the responsibility of the Committee to ensure that we are providing a quality service and that the kindergarten meets the regulations and requirements as set out by government bodies such as the Department of Education and Training. Our kindergarten also has representation at the Darebin Children’s Services Network meetings.
When are Committee meetings held?
Committee meetings are held once a month at the kindergarten, currently on the second Wednesday evening of each month. Everybody is welcome to come to these meetings as positive contributions are greatly appreciated.
We encourage you, as members of our kindergarten, to support and encourage our Committee and to show consideration towards the efforts of these people who volunteer their time to do their very best for the children, staff and families of CSK. Our Committee of Management plays a vital and influential role in our kindergarten. We’d love to have you join our Committee – please consider nominating for the Committee of Management.
General members
Anyone can be a General member and everyone has something they can contribute. General members participate in monthly meetings, discussion and decision making, and a range of sub committees and roles that manage all aspects of the kindergarten including:
- Fees officer
- Policies officer
- Staff liaison
- Maintenance
- Environment & Sustainability
- Communications & IT
- Fundraising
- Social events
- Quality (including parent survey, staffing and timetabling, Quality Improvement Plan, OHS, strategic planning, and emergency management)
All Committee members are required to undergo a Working with Children Check, if they do not already have a current one. This is free for volunteers.
