Kindergarten programs for four-year-old and eligible three-year-old children in Victorian Government funded services will be free as part of the Best Start, Best Life reform. This investment will save families up to $2,500 for each child enrolled in a participating funded kindergarten program. DET also provides funding to assist eligible three-year-old Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and children known to Child Protection, to access kindergarten programs.
Clyde Street Kindergarten Inc. has opted in to the Free Kindergarten initiative. This means that from 2023 parents of both 3 year old and 4 year old children will not pay any fees for their children to attend Clyde Street Kindergarten.
Clyde Street Kindergarten prides itself on delivering high quality early childhood education to the children in our local community. We are committed to ensuring that children have a positive and successful early education experience and we are passionate about the long ranging impacts that high quality early education has on children’s learning and development.
From 2023 the Victorian Department of Education is introducing the Free Kinder program. Previous to this most sessional kindergartens charged parent fees to help cover the costs of running their kindergarten and to ensure high quality resources, equipment and programming for their children. While the government is providing funding to kindergartens as part of the Free Kinder program many kindergartens are finding that the level of funding being provided will result in limits needing to be placed on the types of programming, resources and equipment they will be able to provide. In order to ensure that Clyde Street Kindergarten continues to be able to provide a high quality learning environment and excellent educational program, we will be asking parents for voluntary contributions.
1. Educational Program – $250 one off payment for the entire year. This will help ensure our staff are able to attend high quality professional development and learning, that our education resources, including books, are well maintained and kept up to date and that we are able to continue providing excellent programing including resourcing our kitchen garden and sustainability programs.
2. Maintenance Fee – $150 one off payment for the entire year. This will help ensure we are able to keep our grounds safe, beautiful and well resourced for our children.
