Maria joined Clyde Street Kindergarten in 2005 and in recognition of her wide ranging experience, and her career of over thirty years in Early Childhood Education, became our Director and Educational leader in 2008. In these roles Maria leads the development of the kindergarten program, mentors and guides our staff and works extremely closely with the Committee of Management to ensure the safe and successful running of the kindergarten.
Maria is also the teacher for Green Group. It is in this role that you can really witness her dedication to each and every child and her ability to manage both the dynamics of a group and the needs of the individuals within it.
Maria has the highest level of qualification (known as level 3.5) that a kindergarten teacher can achieve. Prior to her time at CSK Maria worked in various roles both in kindergartens and long day care, some of these involving children who were refugees. Maria identifies strongly with her Italian heritage and worked in Italy for four years as a translator. After having children of her own (two girls, Sara and Monica) Maria returned to teaching in a relief capacity before taking on the permanent position at CSK.
